THE PROGRAMME IN 2024
In 2023, we worked the Croquet Association as one of six clubs running croquet activities and skills for school children. We visited three local schools and provided four fun activities that the children all played in rotation in small groups. We saw a lot of children and they all enjoyed it very much. We hope to repeat the exercise this year.
BACKGROUND issued by the Croquet England
2023 was the first opportunity to put the long term plan into action.
This summer clubs will take part in a pilot programme. The clubs will be visiting local primary/secondary schools to deliver croquet related activities to groups of up to 30 children. Each participant will then be invited to their local croquet club to take part in a family day with parents/grandparents. We then hope to recruit these children alongside their families to become members of their local croquet club.
THE PROGRAMME STARTS
We applied to be a pilot club and were accepted. The special equipment was delivered at the end of May and was been used in Ripon at St Wilfrid’s School on 8th June and at Holy Trinity juniors on 9th June. Moorside Primary School and Nursery was visited by the club on 30th June. The school took some photographs on a not very pleasant day and posted them on Facebook.
