Croquet England events 2025

The Inter-Federation Competition (Federations Shield).

The first match was the quarter-final against the North West Federation at Crake Valley on May 21st, played using the Advantage system and the ‘best of three’ format for the games and first to four for the match.

The team, Sue [captain], Marcia, Robert and Michael, met the night before in Ulverston, to ensure a fresh start on the 21st. The weather was sunny but not too hot.

Sue and Robert played doubles in the morning and singles in the afternoon. Marcia and Michael played singles all day. The home team was just too strong for us and the result was:

Crake Valley won 5 matches, 10 games and scored 104 hoops.

Ripon Spa won 2 matches, 7 games and scored 82 hoops.

While the result is disappointing, lessons were learned and the hospitality was marvellous.

The Inter-Club Competition Tier 3 (Bowl) – this is GC level play for teams of 4,  restricted to handicaps of 4 and higher (with team total of at least 20). We are due to host Nottingham on Monday 2nd June.
